You can't say they don't have a vision. Remarkably, the inspiration for the tower comes from - a flower. The Hymenocallis is a plant widely cultivated in Dubai, India and around the region. It's harmonious structure is one of the organizing principles for the design.

Btw, some people are talking about CN Tower of Toronto not being in that comparison chart. CN Tower is not a building, its the tallest standing structure.

I don't like this dubai place. I hear alot about india and how well most of our jobs are going there. That is not only one of the reasons I don't like this place. The other reason is there so poor in india the new "economic boom" as I keep hearing is roughly 15-25% of india that still leaves over 50% of india the india we know for decades, poor, unregulated and the like. India wants to proove something but to me it's prooving nothing. Just like China, they are destroying there country well there letting american companies destroy is and american companies are jumping over there land, america just for cheaper labour and products. Just wrong.

^ are you retarded? what does Dubai have to do with India? If there is anything you should be angry about is that all your gas money is the money being spent to create these enormous buildings. But us Americans are just getting more and more angry at this whole 'losing their lead over the world' and what we don't realize is that we, as a country, are letting this happen. We have become to inundated with our own laziness and security that we have allowed other countries to 'catch up'. And that's another thing, of course other countries are going to catch up, i mean there is not a power in history that has maintained a stronghold over the entire known world. It is just inevitable. If you think America is going to be THE superpower for all enternity, then you are a fool.

wat a moron, dubai isnt in india, its jus that the flower appears in india and dubia. dubia is the capitol city of the oil rich country UAE. Dubai is always doin crazy shit. they are buildin private islands that from the sky look like the world, and they have this hotel they built with the largest inside atrium in the middle of the ocean. i jus wonder wats gonna happen when they run out of that oil money.
I dunno take a guess, it has all these amazing buildings and so many unique attractions, something tells me they're investing the money they're making from oil into building up the country to become more and more attractive to tourists...

Take a look at the Burj al Arab hotel on the web- I believe the new tower is not for from this existing hotel- it's rumoured to be the most expensive in the world..
Impressive building. I have to say though, the CN tower is definitely a building. You can go inside and everything, there's an observation deck and even a restaurant if I remember correctly.
I wonder why the graphic comparing buildings doesn't include the CN Tower? It's currently the tallest in the world, but instead they show the others? Come on, CN deserves some recognition, before this new one comes up! It was made like 30 years ago.

CN tower is a meaning less structure that is built on a tall column. It dosent offer much place to room for the people, Most of its structure is of stairs or elevators to go to the observation deck. Building such useless structures where u dont have much place to house people is a waste. Its just made to create a hype for a city..
